MCAT's Free Travel Training Program TIME: Appointments available all day, every day! Riding the bus can be an intimidating experience for first-time riders or individuals with special needs. Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) is making that experience easier with its free MCAT Travel Training Program. The fully personalized program helps riders understand how to use bus services, covering everything from navigating bus routes to purchasing a mobile ticket. Anyone interested can make a training appointment by calling (941) 747-8621 Ext. 7633. After scheduling an appointment, an MCAT travel trainer will meets with the future rider to discuss their needs and concerns. The travel trainer develops a customized training plan which typically includes riding the bus together. The training is self-paced and lasts as long as the rider needs to feel comfortable and understand the bus system. City of Lakeland Bike Then Work Event TIME: 7:30 a.m.–9:00 a.m. The City of Lakeland, Bicycling Lakeland, Downtown Lakeland and Commute Connector, a program of the Florida Department of Transportation have teamed up for a “Bike Then Work” event during Mobility Week. Biking to work can be a great option for your commute, saving you money and improving your health. Commuters that live or work in Lakeland are invited to join us for a 3-mile, slow-paced bike ride through Downtown Lakeland. Polk County Mobility Day and Movies on the Lawn! TIME: 5:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. Join the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and Main Street Bartow as they present the Polk County Mobility Day and Movies on the Lawn! Bring your walking shoes for a tour of historical downtown Bartow or bring your bike and ride with us on the Fort Fraser Trail! There will be bicycle helmet fittings, free food, Polk County Sheriff’s Officers (K-9 and Motorcycle), community and governmental partners, and much more! Movies on the Lawn will begin at 7:00 pm with a showing of Monsters vs Aliens!
