Strategic Development
Welcome to Strategic Development
The Assistant Secretary's Division for Strategic Development comprises the Office of the Chief Planner (Planning); the Modal Development Office; and Strategic Development Financial & Administrative Services.
Strategic Development coordinates and develops the state’s long range transportation plan, and related transportation policies and plans, that establish multimodal investment priorities to support Florida’s quality of life and economic competitiveness. The functions of Strategic Development include managing the Strategic Intermodal System, furthering the resilience of our transportation system, maximizing funding through competitive grants for Florida’s communities, and creating relationships with our partners to maintain Florida’s strong economy and supply chain. We work closely with internal and external partners, including Florida’s 27 metropolitan planning organizations, seaports, spaceports, airports, transit agencies, railroads, industry business leaders, local governments, and bicycle, pedestrian, and safety advocates.
