The Geotechnical Engineers establish and implement FDOT' s geotechnical policies & procedures regarding the design and construction
of structural foundation systems, walls and reinforced soil applications. They coordinate with the Area Structures Engineers to ensure
Category 2 bridge plans generated by consultants are in general compliance with the Department's policies and procedures. They
ensure all deviations from normal FDOT geotechnical policies and procedures are only in the best interest of the Department, they
assist the District Structures Offices in properly developing Category 1 projects, and support the District Materials, Structures
and Construction Offices as requested. The Geotechnical Engineers manage ongoing geotechnical research projects and
assist with the review of research projects managed by the Materials, Construction and Drainage Offices.


Establishing statewide geotechnical policies and procedures for all FDOT projects. Providing assistance to all district personnel as needed.
