Systems Management

Lane Repurposing

The department’s mission is to enhance and maintain the capacity of the State Highway System in order to promote efficient movement of people and goods. Lane repurposing projects also known as “Road Diets” are ways to utilize existing space within a roadway which has excess capacity or changing transportation demands.  Lane repurposing projects must be requested by counties or local municipalities with a commitment to conduct the required analysis considering both congestion and safety impacts of the proposed improvements on the subject facility and the surrounding transportation network.

For more information contact Gina Bonyani, State Lane Repurposing Coordinator by e-mail or telephone (850) 414-4707.
