About Us
What We Do:
Our staff is here to help local governments with all phases of the construction process. We handle a wide range of projects including new road construction, multi-lane bridges, pedestrian facility improvements, shared-use trails, and many others. Local Agency Program (LAP) projects are federally funded and must meet federal guidelines for procurement, construction and closeout.
Our goal is to help local agencies navigate state and federal regulations, receive timely reimbursements and benefit from the Department's quality assurance role in the field; all while producing safe high quality projects.
Who We Are:
District Five's Special Projects Group is responsible for managing an average of approximately 120 projects at any given time. Our group comes from diverse backgrounds involving multiple aspects of construction, which helps us manage the broad assortment of projects that come through the Special Projects programs.
Best Management Practices
The best management practices listed below are not mandatory. These BMP's are examples of the most successful project management styles and methods used by our local partners to document their projects. Documentation is key to a successful project when federal and state funds are involved. These methods have also been useful in reducing errors in audits.
