I-4 Beyond the Ultimate South Smart Work Zone

I-4 Ultimate built the 21.1 of express lanes through the heart of the City of Orlando.  I-4 Beyond the Ultimate (BtU) South extends express lanes over another twenty miles to the south through the attractions area through a series of projects.  Several new capacity improvements are underway.

The I-4 BtU South Smart Work Zone brings additional features to the Department’s existing MOT.  It uses computer vision to monitor an alert if errant vehicles enter the work zone or if pedestrians enter work zone locations.  Alerts include audible, strobes lights, and Connected Vehicle messages.  The system also provides situational awareness such as queue formation.  The system connects and integrates to the Department’s TSM&O network and the Work Zone Data Exchange.
