Consultant Access Account Request Instructions

To be requested for a consultant contracted to do business with the Department seeking individual user access.

Each user with access to Departmental resources agrees that they have been authorized as an individual and that all access must be used exclusively by that individual.

The following steps must be completed to receive a computer user ID and gain access to FDOT computer systems and\or IT Resources.


1. Contact
the Security Coordinator for the District with which you conduct business or your FDOT Project Manager to determine how you will be connecting to the department's computer resources. Once your connectivity mode is established, they can assist you with the process for establishing your individual account to access FDOT IT resources.

2. Review the Policies and Statutes dealing with computer resources.  

3. Take the FDOT  Computer Security CBT and Save your certificate

4. Complete the  FDOT Acceptable Use Agreement form using digital signatures. 

Here is a link to  Detailed Instructions for completing and signing the FDOT Acceptable Use Agreement form.   Completion and signature of the Acceptable Use Agreement Form indicates that you have read, understand and will abide by all Policies and Statutes and that you have completed the Computer Security CBT (Computer Based Training).

5. Scan and email the CBT Certificate and AUA form to your FDOT Project Manager or Security Coordinator, who will coordinate the submission of your request in AARF.

External FTP server access: The external FTP server allows anonymous read access. If your need only includes downloading files from the server, you do not need an FTP account.  

If you need to upload documents to the FDOT external FTP server, you will need to provide the following information to your FDOT Project Manager.     

  • Provide the Directory structure or path where you will place your files. The directory will be created for you. All directories will be created after the following path: "https://ftp.fdot.gov.

Additional important information:

  • External FTP user accounts will receive write and delete access to the requested folder(s).
  • Your external FTP server account password expires every 65 days.
  • External FTP user accounts are locked out after 5 unsuccessful login attempts. Contact the FDOT Service Desk at (866)-955-4357 or email fdot.servicedesk@dot.state.fl.us for assistance with this or any FTP related issue.
  • Files in short term storage are automatically deleted every 14 days. Utility/Permit files will not be deleted. Files and folders in long term storage are not deleted.
  • Accounts that remain inactive for 365 days will be disabled.
  • All files placed on the FTP server are subject to review by the Office of Information Technology.
  • Use of the external FTP server for any activity other than FDOT business is strictly prohibited.
