The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is an executive agency and directly reports to Governor Ron DeSantis. The unique nature of the Sunshine State and its year-round warm climate provides numerous opportunities to move people and goods through multiple modes including highways/streets, air, rail, sea, spaceports, transit, and ever-expanding deployment of bicycle & pedestrian facilities.

Student Loan Forgiveness

If you are employed by a U.S. federal, state, local, or tribal government or not-for-profit organization, you might be eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.

State Holidays

There are several paid holidays observed by State Agencies, in addition each employee is given one personal holiday a year.

Tuition Waiver

This program allows each state University and Florida College System institution to waive tuition and fees for State Employees to enroll in up to six (6) credit hours of courses per term.

In the past I was working somewhere where I wasn’t happy and I came here as an operator and realized how interesting transportation and traffic is and how much goes into the day-to-day of keeping the roadways clear and safe for the public. So I kept on working in this field and there were so many opportunities to jump into that I didn’t even know what I wanted to do at a certain point. I was guided into working in maintenance which is very exciting.
